Findungskommission Tanzquartier Wien

Sehr geehrter Stadtrat Dr. Mailath-Pokorny,

die UnterzeichnerInnen der vorliegenden Petition fordern die Einsetzung
einer unabhängigen, international besetzten Findungskommission aus
hochkarätigen Personen aus Kunst und Wissenschaft für die Nominierung
der Intendanz des Tanzquartier Wien ab Sommer 2009 nach folgenden
Kriterien:

- Politische Unabhängigkeit von den regierenden Institutionen der
Stadt Wien und des Bundes

- Ausgewiesene Kompetenz im Feld des zeitgenössischen europäischen
Kunstschaffens mit Schwerpunkt Tanz und Performance

Diese Kommission sollte rasch einberufen werden, um eine bestmögliche
Nachbesetzung zu gewährleisten.

Andernfalls sehen wir eine Weiterentwicklung des Tanzquartier Wien als
internationales Zentrum für zeitgenössische Tanz- und Performancekunst mit
Bewusstsein für aktuelle ästhetische und gesellschaftliche Tendenzen massiv
gefährdet.

Dear Dr. Mailath-Pokorny,

The undersigned of the following petition demand the installation of an
independent and internationally relevant committee consisting of high-profile
personalities out of the art and related science fields for the nomination of the
artistic director of Tanzquartier Wien as of Summer, 2009 according to the
following criteria:

- Political independence of the governing institutions of the City of Vienna and
the Austrian Federation.

- Certified competence in the field of contemporary art creation with a focus on
dance and performance.

This committee should be called up as soon as possible in order to guarantee the
necessary steps towards the best possible nomination.

Otherwise, we fear that the further development of Tanzquartier Wien as an
internationally relevant centre for contemporary dance and performance art
with an awareness of current aesthetic and societal tendencies would be gravely
endangered.
