Extend and make permanent the $10M augmentation to the statewide system of Caregiver Resource Centers

The statewide California Caregiver Resource Center system (CRCs) is advocating for an extension of one additional year of the current $10M system augmentation to expand and improve family caregiver services and enhance CRC information technology services and to make permanent this augmentation in future years in this year’s state budget. Your voice needs to be heard on this important issue now.

For too long, family caregivers have been recognized but not adequately supported with practical services, emotional support and guidance throughout the care journey. For 40 years the California Caregiver Resource Centers have been there for families struggling with care of an adult with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, stroke and other cognitive impairments and chronic health conditions.

In 2019, the CRCs requested a time-limited budget increase of $10M/year over three years. Support that came from advocacy organizations like AARP, California Adult Day Services, the Alzheimer’s Association and caregivers like you, enabled the CRCs to increase the number of caregivers served and expand access through technologies that proved to be prescient in light of COVID.

Now we are asking for your help in contacting Gavin Newsom and members of the California State legislature by taking 5 minutes to sign on to our support letter to let them know that CRC services are important to you, your family and to others in similar care situations. Let them know now to “Extend and make permanent the $10M augmentation to the statewide system of Caregiver Resource Centers”. Your voice needs to be heard in the capitol with this simple message by Monday May 24.
