All children should have the right and access to a normal education from the Queensland schools system. Children with special needs who attend public schools should be entitled to the same level of learning and education alongside their peers.
Special training and/or seminars to be offered to school teachers who work with children with special needs in order for teachers to be educated on how to better cater to these children. A compassionate approach to disciplining a child with special needs. Children with special needs should not be excluded from an education because of the ''behaviours'' that teachers are unable to handle through their own lack of experience and awareness.
We, the undersigned call on the Deputy Premier and Minister for Health Paul Lucas MP, Minister for Education and Training Geoff Wilson MP, Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport Phil Reeves MP and Minister for Disability Services and Multicultural Affairs Annastacia Palaszczuk MP to work, support and advocate for the parents of special needs children within the public and private school systems of Queensland by offering more incentive for training to teachers of special needs children and ensuring these children have equal access to education.
