- President Barack Obama, John A. Boehner
- United States of America
On October 1, 2013 at 12:01am, the United States Government partially shutdown due to the inability of each political party to come to an agreement regarding the Federal Budget.
This shutdown has caused much hardship amongst the American people, with NASA interns losing their homes, a woman being nearly abandoned while injured in Acadia National Park, and Federal workers not receiving the paychecks on which they depend until further notice, for example.
Every other sector of society has been deleteriously affected as well or will be as the effects of the Shutdown trickle down and ripple through each day.
Dear President Obama and Speaker Boehner,
I will keep this short and sweet. We, the undersigned, ask you to do everything within your power to fully re-open the United States Government TODAY. Although each of us may disagree on individual issues, we as a whole love our country and wish to see each and every citizen and legal U.S. resident enjoy our inalienable rights to freedom, fairness, and prosperity.
I would have used your site, "We the People," to create this petition; however, the site has been shut down as well!
Please hear us and do what is best for the population at large, which includes re-opening all government services and keeping the economy alive. If you truly care about us and OUR country, you will help by modifying your agenda, ceasing to leave innocent people out in the cold, and allowing us to move forward.
