Please stand with us, the children and friends of Maria Bill as we STRONGLY OPPOSE the parole of REPEAT offender and convicted murderer Robert Edward Atwood. State ID#02359783 TDCJ ID#00646180
#BJustice4Maria, #DenyParole, #Justice

Maria Bill was murdered on September 19, 1992. Robert Edward Atwood is a 2nd Time Offender and was on parole for Attempted Murder at the time he killed our mother. Atwood received 40 years with a chance of parole after only 10 years!

He has been up for parole several times and is, once again, being reviewed by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. This man is a violent and dangerous murderer, with a long history of violence and rage and should NOT be granted parole. He has had multiple disciplinary offenses while incarcerated--one can only the imagine how dangerous he could be if released from prison. It should be known he could be released back to Comanche County as he has expressed it to be his residential preference.

September 19, 1992
After hours of terror and harassment, Atwood grew agitated after police were contacted. He received a warning to leave her property but instead lingered in his truck. As soon as the officer left, Atwood once again approached the front door where under his threat, Maria and her two-year-old son exited the home and were forced to his truck. He then took action to end her life. He shot her three times Execution-style. Maria was still alive after the first two shots. The third shot ended her life and covered her youngest son in blood. He had been sitting on her lap at the time of her killing. As each shot rang out, three of Maria’s young daughters, ages 7-20, and a two- year-old granddaughter fled through the back door to a neighbor’s house. It was later realized how close to death they had been as after killing Maria, Atwood had made his way into her home searching for her children.

The latest update on his file as relayed by Victim Services (800/848-4284) on January 17, 2024, states the offender presently has 3577 good days lost. This indicates considerable discipline problems. He cannot live among law-abiding citizens!

Robert Atwood took more than Maria's life--he forever changed the lives of each of her children and her friends. Her children were each given a LIFE sentence without a chance of "early release" from the pain and suffering that he caused.
Feelings of fear, of panic continue to weigh on Maria’s family each time they are forced to relive this tragic murder, each time Atwood is considered for early release.
Justice demands that Atwood should not be afforded parole and should be made to serve his full sentence.

Robert Edward Atwood has shown no remorse and is a repeat offender at high risk for recidivism. Please take a moment to sign & share this petition, urging the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to deny parole for
Robert Edward Atwood. SID #: 02359783, TDCJ #: 00646180
