On December 6, 2006, ASFLC, also known as the Student Senate passed a resolution to support a student fee increase, with only ONE Senator opposing. The increase was also supported by the Student Fee Review Board. The student increase is to fund components of a new College Union Building in the sum of approximately TWENTY MILLION dollars to begin construction in the fall of 2008.

This increase will be gradual adding $8.50 PER credit hour in the summer of 2007, to $17 PER credit hour in the year 2009. The FLC administration has committed to a minimum of $100,000 annually to help support the students in need of financial assistance due to this increase.

We, the undersigned, call on ASFLC, the President, and Board of Trustees to put a stop to the student fee increase.

Noting that this does not mean we are in opposition to a new CUB but the increase is a huge burden to place on students; especially when you take into account other increases (i.e. tuition, room & board, etc.) students will have to pay in addition to this increase in years to come.

The DECREASE the INCREASE at Fort Lewis College petition to Students of Fort Lewis College was written by Ellinda McKinney-Jones and is in the category Education at GoPetition.
