Energy is the fuel that helps us on the road trip of life. Different fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas has been used now for many years to power our homes across the country. Not only that, but it has also powered many forms of transportation and still does today. There are many forms to produce the energy that we use. One way is to burn these fossil fuels. However, there is not an unlimited supply of these resources, for they are nonrenewable, irreplaceable resources. The average household spends $5,500/year on energy. If we are not careful enough, we could harm our environment if we consume too much of our resources. From power plants to cars, consuming energy can produce emissions that harm our environment. The emissions from power plants and vehicles are depleting our ozone layer bit by bit as we use up our resources at a critical pace. This is a leading cause of global warming, which can harm not only our surroundings, but ourselves as well.As the years go by, more and more of the Earth’s landscape is being destroyed in search of resources needed for power plants and greenhouses. This includes deforestation, which destroys animals and their habitats.
Although opponents claim that profits and jobs are more important than the need for conserving energy, one must conserve as much energy as possible because consumers would save money, the earth’s resources would last longer, and it would help protect the environment.

We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. Government to reduce the use of non-renewable resources to conserve our energy and protect the environment.
