TO THE HONOURABLE THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF NEW SOUTH WALES
The petition of certain citizens of New South Wales
State that:
* Most trains do not operate between 12:00am & 4:30am especially in the Blue Mountains.
* Nightshift workers cannot find public transport during these times.
* Hospitality is the primary industry in the Blue Mountains.
* Not all taxi services in the Blue Mountains operate 24 hours a day.
* Taxis are unaffordable for many residents over the distances they need to travel.
* Drink driving is a problem on our roads.
* While alternative transport is unavailable attitudes to drink driving will not change.
* Sleeping in your car is dangerous & undesirable.
* For the smaller numbers during the night buses would be an environmentally appropriate and safer alternative than trains.
Your petitioners request that the House
* Extend the current night ride bus service to include the complete existing intercity rail service region, connecting with the existing metropolitan night ride service.
