The city is proposing to take over management of 8 city-owned rinks, including Bill Bolton. If approved by city council, it could jeopardize the programming created and operated by Bill Bolton's community-run management board, including all adult leagues.
The Community Development and Recreation Committee has recommended a good compromise but we still need the community to let Mayor David Miller and the 44 councillors know that we want Bill Bolton's management board to run and develop its community programs for boys, girls, adults and families.
City council meets Feb. 22 to vote on the recommendation. To ensure it receives enough support, we need you to get involved by e-mailing Mr. Miller and the 44 councillors so they know how we feel. Even if you've already signed the paper petition, please "sign" this online petition.
You can also show your support on Feb. 22 by attending the council meeting. We'll provide more details about the time it will happen.
To ensure that the mayor and councillors hear from as many people as possible, we've created a suggested e-mail that you can send to them: http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AQ24kvvc9m3KZDgyOTluYl83M2Z3ODU5eGhw&hl=en_GB_
Their e-mail addresses can be found here:

Thanks for your support!
We support the city’s Community Development and Recreation Committee recommendation that would let Bill Bolton's community-based management board be maintained - a move that would ensure that the successful programming for boys, girls, families and adults would continue to exist.
We believe the current structure serves the needs of the entire community, while respecting the need for accessibility and diversity.
