Children are too busy doing homework to create memories and develop who they are as individuals. The highest ranking education systems in the world have banned homework (eg, Finland), so we should too. Homework does more harm than help. Many studies have shown that homework does not improve academic results, it just creates a negative attitude towards school and education in general. Free your child. Sign this petition.
We, the undersigned, call on the National Department of Basic Education to greatly reduce the amount of homework given in South African Primary and High schools.
