#Gender Rights and Issues
Target:
Michigan State Legislature
Region:
United States of America

Throughout American history, we have fought for the rights of others. For example, the African-American civil rights movement took place over sixty years. The dates don't matter, but the fact that it did happen does matter. In today's society, homosexuals are faced with many rights issues.

Why should homosexuals not be able to marry? Who is it hurting? It is no one's business but the couple's whether or not they choose to pursue marriage. And if they do, then they should have the given right just as anyone else. If we were discriminating against another race or religion, then this movement would have happened a long time ago.

With the re-election of President Barack Obama, many states have approved same-sex marriage, and I believe that with enough support, Michigan can as well.

As citizens of the United States of America, we all believe in equality. With the help from everyone in and outside of our communities, we can put the Same-Sex Marriage Law on the next Michigan Election Ballot.

This does not mean it will be passed, but merely voted on for approval or disapproval. We, the people of Michigan and the United States, once signed, are agreeing to the placing of this matter on the next ballot.
