This petition is to stand up against the unreasonable ban of Youtube in PUSD schools.
Whether you're against technology or not, anyone can see that Youtube, and technology as a whole-- has become a big part of education nationwide for students and teachers alike.
Many parts of the curriculum are technological nowadays. For instance, both Canvas and Aeries are integral parts of students school life, and are entirely technology-based. What does this have to do with banning YouTube? I'm glad you asked.
On the surface, YouTube is a video sharing website. However, you will find that YouTube has a multitude of learning resources for students. During my time at school, there have been more times that I can count where I have used YouTube for studying and assignments. Banning YouTube on the Chromebooks strips students of a vital source of information. The ban will also make student phone usage to access content, educational or not, skyrocket in schools.
For students who don't have phones, this ban will make learning harder. This also inconveniences teachers, as students cannot take control of their own learning.
This petition is here to call for a reversal of the ban. If you agree with the cause, please sign the petition. Be the change you wish to see and help us stand up.
