Campaigners opposed to the Mat-Su Prison Project, Alaska have had a great victory.

The campaigners petitioned, "
This is a petition to stop the Mat-Su Borough from building a Mega Prison at the Palmer South (#14) site. This prison will be a huge eye sore & will put our families in potential danger from escapees. It will also put a halt to this community/town from expanding. Our property values will plummet as well. Not to mention the noise & light pollution."

The Mat-Su Prison was to be owned by the Mat-Su Borough, financed through revenue bonds, and leased to the Alaska Department of Corrections.

But now the project has been axed. Campaigner,
Corinna Luce reports, " We have won! The prison will not be built at the Palmer South Site. Thank you for all your support. I will be keeping this petition up & running for "just in case" purposes."

Congratulations to all who signed.
