Target:
Nassau County Off Track Betting Corporation, County Executive Mangano
Region:
United States of America

As of December 30, 2014, the Nassau County Off Track Betting Corporation has decided that it will place a 1000 terminal Video Lottery Terminal Casino in the vacant Fortunoff Store in the Source Mall.

Residents of the surrounding residential areas are opposed to such a Casino as the area will be burdened with additional traffic that existing roadways cannot handle, increased crime due to an increase in the overall area population on a daily basis and the fact that the facility will be open 20 hours per day.

The site is within 600 feet of a senior citizen residential area as well as near over 300 private family homes, in addition to schools within a short radius.

We the undersigned join the Concerned Citizens of the Meadowbrook Pointe Merchants Concourse Civic Association and concerned citizens of Westbury, Carle Place, Salisbury and other surrounding areas in voicing our deep concerns regarding the placing of a Video Lottery Casino in the Fortunoff store in the Source Mall in Westbury.

This decision has been made with no community input. To that end, we are united in requesting that you do not proceed any further in negotiations for leasing the Casino until the community has a full chance to be heard before the state Gaming Board location Commission.

Westbury, Carle Place and Salisbury are well established suburban communities and the Source Mall is not an appropriate location for Video Gaming and Gambling.

This proposal is highly inconsistent with our treasured family values for which we have all settled in the above areas to raise our children or retire; and will certainly jeopardize the health, safety and welfare of our families.

Respectfully,
The Undersigned;
