As a local resident of Elysian Valley and Cypress Park community, I protest the cancer-causing diesel fuel contaminates spewing endlessly from the idling train engines of Metrolink Central Maintenance Facility. We vehemently protest the NOISE being generated by the train engines as well.

This air pollution is a direct violation of the Southern California Air Quality Management District's Rule 402 – Nuisance: "A person shall not discharge from any source whatsoever such quantities of air contaminants or other material which cause injury, detriment, nuisance, or annoyance to any considerable number of persons or to the public, or which endanger the comfort, repose, health or safety of any such persons or the public, or which cause, or have a natural tendency to cause, injury or damage to business or property."

We demand that MetroLink who contracts out the maintenance work to Bombardier Transportation take action to drastically reduce, if not eliminate entirely, the amount of air pollution from these idling train engines that are negatively impacting the quality of life here in our neighborhood, as well as for the thousands of locals that use the L.A. river's bike and walking trail adjacent to it.
