Background (Preamble):
The following municipalities; Halifax (N.S.), Líle bizard (Que.) and chelsea (Que) have bylaws prohibiting the use of pesticides on private property for cosmetic reasons. Synthetic pesticides are harmful to human health and the environment: many of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, birth defects, and loss of wildlife. These products are unnecessary because sustainable, healthy and effective lawn care alternatives are available.
Petition:
Therefore we, the undersigned, petition our elected representatives of City Hall, North Vancouver, British Columbia to ban the use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes on private property.
