A motion that recognizes the so-called Assyrian genocide as an historical fact and calls on the Australian federal parliament "to officially condemn the genocide of the Assyrian people and any attempt to deny such crimes against humanity" will be presented to the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales Parliament on 23 February 2010.
This motion is based on a groundless, fabricated and distorted version of history.
We, the undersigned, declare that if this motion is endorsed, the NSW Parliament’s Legislative Assembly will be an instrument to the efforts of those who try to make use of distorted historical events for their political ambitions to the detriment of the multiethnic and multicultural harmony in our country, Australia.
We, the undersigned, also state that passing judgements on a nation’s history through one-sided and defamatory allegations is not a foreign state’s parliament’s responsibility.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, request that the NSW Parliament’s Legislative Council reject this ill-judged and unjustified motion on 23 February 2010.
