1. Support Motion 312

PLEASE ALSO SEE:
http://www.lifecanada.org/services/petitions/petition-in-support-of-motion-312

The definition of "human being" is of fundamental importance to the governing of Canadian society and the functioning of the Canadian judicial system. The definition present in the Canadian Criminal Code (under section 223(1)) is potentially outdated, and should be revised in light of more recent medical evidence.

The purpose of Motion 312 is to update this definition, and then petition Parliament to make all necessary legal changes in light of revision, if there are any.

Canadian residents of any age may sign.

Charter of Rights and Freedoms (1982):
Section (1) "...guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society."

If the unborn are persons, abortion reform is a "reasonable limit" to guarantee "rights and freedoms" of all human beings.

Section (7) "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice."

If the unborn are persons, they must be granted "the right to life", and abortion reform would be necessary to reach such "fundamental justice".

The Canadian Human Rights Act (1985):
Section (2) "...that all individuals should have an opportunity equal with other individuals to make for themselves the lives that they are able and wish to have and to have their needs accommodated, consistent with their duties and obligations as members of society, without being hindered in or prevented from doing so by discriminatory principles...."

If the unborn are human beings, they must be granted "opportunity equal with others to make for themselves...lives". Abortion reform would not be part of "discriminatory principles" against women, but part of ensuring equality in opportunity to live.

If the unborn are persons, then Parliament has the moral duty to give the unborn the right to life. Parliament must, then, also grant pregnant women more federal support, by any just means, so that the child(ren) may be born, and that she does not suffer financially or otherwise.

2. Petition for a motion of no-confidence in the UK coalition government

As most of you will know, the UK government operates an e-petition website on the basis that any petition achieving 100,000 signatures or more must be passed forward for parliamentary discussion. The govt has repeatedly rejected an e-petition calling for discussion of a no-confidence motion in the current coalition government.

This government has repeatedly shown itself unfit to govern - sleaze,an all-out attack on the NHS and the public sector generally, inappropriate interactions with powerful media & corporate interests, opposing Freedom of Information requests and not least mismanagement of the UK economy, among many other issues.

If you wish to communicate to the government that it does not have the support or mandate of the UK people for its actions, please sign the petition below - and publicise it to your friends via Twitter, Facebook and any other means. The government may not listen, but the more people sign, the harder it will be for it to ignore!

5. Bring Back Pleasure Island Night Clubs at Walt Disney World NOW

This entertainment venue that was taken from the public, without asking them how they felt about it, by The Walt Disney Company was know as Pleasure Island. This venue consisted of 7 night clubs that the public frequented very regularly.

These night clubs not only provided great entertainment for the adult vacationers, it also provided many jobs to The Walt Disney World Resort not only on the entertainment side of the house, but on the operations side of the house also.

This also provided a great entertainment experience for all of the adult guests, locals and visiting guests also.

6. Stop forward motion on transfer station

Proper discussion has not been initiated with the town board, town residents, and BOCC, Road & bridge and county manager and forward motion has begun.

The economic feasibility of this HSS site is not fully researched as the BOCC does not know where the trash will be hauled. Depending on this answer, other sites (specifically Kremmling landfill and Fraser Road and Bridge shop could be more feasible).

There are no regulations in place to insure the community's safety. There are no regulations in place should any regulations be violated with the potential for hazardous health and environmental impacts.

We have been unfairly isolated from the planning process with the above departments. The people of this county should have been involved in this important decision effecting all of our lives.

There are documented examples of other communities transfer stations who do not adhere to maintenance of the facility.

Increased carbon footprint due to truck traffic mileage when traveling large distances to and from Hot Sulphur Springs.

This proposal is in direct conflict with the Grand County Master Plan with the Town of Hot Sulphur Springs on issues of preserving agricultural and ranching views on the east end of the town, and joint development with the county within a three mile area of the town.

There will potentially be a negative impact to the water quality due to the close proximity of the waste transfer station to the Colorado River and the source for the Hot Sulphur Springs municipal water plant.

Negative impact on National Scenic Byway, one of few in the state and country

Negative impact to our community is documented in other communities fights against transfer station. They include, visual, odor, noise, traffic, and ground water issues as listed below:

Truck traffic including leachate and trash escaping from trucks, heavy truck traffic, road infrastructure and damage, and increased noise

Noise pollution with large trucks, the trucks dropping loads that may still be encased in steel dumpsters onto concrete tipping floors which can cause adverse vibration in nearby structures.

Odors escaping from open facility doors and unclean trucks

Falling property values and disease spreading due to external vectors such as bugs, birds, mice, and other vermin

Cumulative impacts on public health and quality of life from noxious odors, water quality contamination, increased external vectors, dust, and truck exhaust

Increased fire hazard involved in storage and transfer of materials

Litter and the resulting reduction of property values from improperly sealed trucks, improperly stored garbage, and from wind when doors are open

Property values will decrease due to above issues

7. "DaVinci" Hits Rock Bottom

May 20, 2006

"The DaVinci Code" written by novelist Dan Brown was made into a major motion picture on May 19, 2006 directed by Ron Howard and starred Tom Hanks.

"The DaVinci Code" is a global warming incident that is waiting to explode. As Christians of God and Jesus Christ, this book and motion picture is a disturbance of the peace for it portrays the wrong idea of how Christians live their lives.

8. Oscar Voters Who Have Not Viewed All Nominees Should Be Disqualified From Voting

March 13, 2006

This petition is an attempt to convince the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to change their rules, making the viewing of all nominees in any given category mandatory and verifiable, before allowing Academy members to vote in that category.

On the heels of the controversial Best Picture selection of Crash at the recent Academy Awards ceremony, it was disturbing to hear Academy voters like Tony Curtis and Ernest Borgnine admit publicly that they refused to view all of the Best Picture nominees.

The Academy Award has in the past been considered the pinnacle of achievement in the motion picture industry. Now imagine a panel of judges at the Olympics awarding the gold medal, which is viewed as the pinnacle of achievement in sport, to a specific competitor, despite refusing to view the routines of all participating competitors. The uproar would be quick, relentless and perfectly justified.
