1. Save Millennium Dance Company at Perry Studios

The Millennium Dance Company at Perry Studios has a singular focus of artistic education that promotes diversity and excellence in the student's whole life, not just at dance class.

From January 4, 2014

Millennium Dance Company has served over 3000 dancers in its occupancy and currently serve over 140 active dance students enrolled in various classes of Ballet, Modern, Tap, Hip-Hop and African. The long legacy of the company and Perry Studios is valuable in Harlem’s cultural history.

The legacy of this institution is being threatened by eviction in their current location at 2542 Frederick Douglass Blvd and 135th Street which they have inhabited for the last 20 years.

The owner, Lloyd A. Williams, CEO/President of Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, is demanding a rent increase and payment arrears that put the dance school in jeopardy and takes away the cultural education of our children who thrive in dance.

The parents and supporters of the Millennium Dance company at Perry Studios have come together to put a stop to the eviction and put notice to the owner that his current actions are completely unacceptable. Perry Studios holds a dear place in the hearts of the parents as a safe haven for our girls in the community.

With current expenses the school cannot operate with the unexpected increase in rent and stated arrears and we are asking for your help!

2. Get Katy Perry to come to the Brighton Center

Basicly, People think Katy Perry is too popular to come to the brighton Center but I think differently, If we can get her to come to brighton, It will be a Teenage dream

3. Re-naming of Perry High's Baseball Field

The Perry Bullpen is seeking support in attempting to re-name our High School Baseball Field in the name of Head Coach Frank Gamble. Coach Gamble has coached in Ohio for 37 years and 20 years at Perry. He is in the Top 10 in the state in total wins as a coach (537), belongs to 4 Ohio High School baseball Halls of Fame, has a .614 winning percentage while at Perry, has the Top 12 most winning seasons in Perry History and 15 of the top 20 seasons.

Additionally Coach Gamble has led the charge in raising of $500,000 in financial support for our baseball program. This includes (New lights, New dugouts, Fencing, Batting Cages, Score Board, Grass Seed, Replacement dirt, Brick Dust, New Concession Stand and much more) We would like to petition the Perry School Board for approval in renaming our field in Coach Gambles honor.

4. Funding for G2V Tech, A North TX Solar Company

Over eleven hundred semiconductor workers, engineers, and support staff were laid off when the silicon manufacturing plant, STMicroelectronics closed its site in Carrollton,TX and went overseas in this past year.

The last several dozen people in the company put together several state and federal grant and loan applications to convert this silicon manufacturing site to a silicon solar manufacturing company (G2V website: www.G2vtech.com ) complete with solar education, and certificate and degree programs, to not only retrain and hire back all 1100 people, but provide new Green Economy employable skills and education for other laid off workers and young people in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

The state grant was essential for the initial cost of the project - to buy the plant and set up the retraining with local colleges, and to apply for the Federal low interest loans. A group of thirty or forty scientist and engineers have been working on this business plan for the past 4 months.

In spite of a positive initial response from the TX state government, it seems that the state grant is not coming through. We requested 30 - 40 million dollars. There is enough money in the state budget allocation for the State Enterprise Development Fund to support this project, however the funding is basically at the discretion of TX Governor Perry (although the lieutenant governor and secretary of state also must sign their approval, if Governor Perry agrees, the other approvals are virtually assured.) As of now it seems that the application for the grant has been shelved indefinitely.

It should be noted that the cost of one year of state unemployment benefits for those laid off workers would be roughly equal to the grant in question to pay for the solar manufacturing facility - costing the state of TX and it's taxpayers nothing for this great benefit.

5. Bring Back Coach Arminio

Coach Arminio was dismissed as head coach of Perry Hall's Varsity Football Team.

No explanation was given for this decision by the Baltimore County Department of Education nor was due process followed.

This has had a negative affect on his players, family, and community.

6. Save Janie Morrison's Job

Perry Buckley does not plan on renewing Janie Morrison's contract at the end of December 31, 2006.

Perry has already gotten rid of Jennifer Marsh - Who is serving those local chapters in her place? What plan does Perry have?

7. SPORTS AREA & HOOPS AT PERRY PARK

OUR LOCAL PARK IS BEING RENOVATED AND THE PLANNING COMMITY HAD MEETINGS FOR THE NEIGHBORS TO SEE WHAT WAS WANTED IN THE PARK. I ATTENDED THE FIRST MEETING WITH MY 11 YEAR OLD SON AND WE VOICED THAT WE WANTED THE BALL AREA TO STAY FOR BASKETBALL AND OTHER BALL PLAY AND THAT WE WANTED FUN PLAY FOR SMALLER CHILDREN SUCH AS WATER PLAY LIKE SPRINKLERS, AND SLIDES AND SWINGS.

WE COULD NOT ATTEND OTHER MEETINGS FOR VERY GOOD REASONS, BUT ALWAYS SPOKE TO NEIGHBORS AND CALLED THE PLANNING DIRECTOR TO SEE HOW THINGS WERE GOING. UP TO THE FOURTH MEETING ALL WAS GOING WELL FOR US, AND IT ALSO INCLUDED WHAT OTHERS WANTED LIKE A GREEN AREA AND A DOG PARK.

THEN AFTER THE FOURTH MEETING EVERYTHING CHANGED. NO BASKETBALL, NO SPORTS, ALL GREEN, AND IT UPSET ME. I SPOKE TO CITY HALL, THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING, A STATE REP THAT LIVES ONE STREET FROM ME, NEIGHBORS, EVERYONE. MY LOCAL ALDERMAN HAS NOT CALLED ME AFTER THREE CALLS TO HER.

SO MY THOUGHT WAS A PETITION. AFTER TALKING TO THE STATE REP, SHE CONFIRMED MY THOUGHTS WERE RIGHT AND SAID PETITION. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WERE SAID BY THE PLANNING DIRECTOR WAS THAT THEY WANT TO GET THE ELEMENT OUT OF THE PARK THAT PLAY BASKETBALL. SEND YOUR KIDS TO ANOTHER PARK. AWFUL THINGS. AND IT'S NOT LIKE I DON'T WANT A LARGE PART TO BE GREEN, OR TO NOT HAVE A DOG PARK, FOR I DON'T PLAY BASKETBALL AND THE GREEN AREA WOULD BE FOR ME. I DO RUN DAYCARE AND NEED CHILDREN THINGS LIKE SLIDES, SWINGS AND SPRINKLERS, AND A DOG PARK WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE DOG WE WILL BE GETTING SOON.

I JUST WANT TO SEE EVERYONE GET WHAT THEY NEED, AND THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY BASKETBALL REALLY ENJOY IT DOWN IN THIS PARK.
