Target:
SPIRIT 105.3 radio station-Seattle, WA
Region:
United States of America

For years, many citizens of Washington state have become fed up with the way SPIRIT 105.3 handles the way music is played on the station. All these people agree that the family friendly quality of the station is indeed good, but what is not in their favor is the type of family friendly music played and how often it is played.

The music on the station is overplayed in every possible way. To anyone who listens to the station on at least a semi-regular basis, will note that only 30 or so songs are played on the station, and that is it.

The songs are not switched around at all, and that is driving some people so crazy, that they are switching to secular stations and/or cds instead because they can't stand to listen to a station that overplays its music.

We also find that the music a lot of teens and young adults (even some older adults) are into, such as hard Christian rock, 80s Christian metal, and Christian rap, are not played on 105.3, and that is what we really want to listen too. We again have to turn to cds and/or secular stations to hear the type of music we want to hear.

We think it is the duty of the Christian station to play the music that EVERYONE wants to hear, or else create a new station for said audience, so that EVERYONE is satisfied. Not doing so, could result in an unwanted and unnecessary turn to non-Christian music; a negative thing for a Christian station to witness.

We, the undersigned, call on the Seattle, WA radio station, SPIRIT 105.3 KCMS to create a young Christian radio station that can be played on the normal radio and which is not just available online and through HD radio, which not everyone can afford/access.

The station will play Christian hard rock music from bands like Pillar, Kids in the Way, and Thousand Foot Krutch (among other bands), music from Christian rap artists like KJ-52 and Grits, and music from Christian metal bands like Underoath and Stryper. The station will also play harder songs from bands like Kutless and Switchfoot that 105.3 will not play because the music is "too hard."

We, the undersigned, also call on SPIRIT 105.3 KCMS to make sure that the new station switches up the music a lot and is more responsive to requests/suggestions from the audience. That means that if an audience member is fed up with the way the station is handling something and/or wants to hear a Christian song that the station is not currently playing, then the said station responds accordingly and appropriately.
