The Scottish Government has formed a task force to consider the future of training and qualifications for the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
The Scottish Training Federation is seeking the support of industry leaders to ensure that work based learning is not only retained but is expanded to provide an all age training and qualification service to help the industry contribute to the growth in Scottish Tourism.
We are seeking your support so that we may continue to provide your staff with the training and assessments that allows them to develop a career and prove this through the achievement of Scottish Vocational Qualifications and Modern Apprenticeships.
We as owners, directors and senior managers of some of Scotland’s finest hotels, visitor attractions and tourism operators would like to add our voice to the debate on training and qualifications in Scottish Hospitality and Tourism.
Our product is uniquely Scottish and is based in locations that have no equal in the UK or internationally.
We continually strive to provide the best possible customer experience. To achieve this we need quality people and to offer these people a worthwhile and rewarding career.
Work based learning and qualifications give us the best opportunity to attract, train and retain people who other wise might be tempted to work in other industries. We value the service we get from training providers who have the ability to quickly adapt detailed learning regimes to suit the needs of each individual.
We value Modern Apprenticeships and Scottish Vocational Qualifications because they recognise the hard and soft skills that we value and bring out those that are such a tremendous development tool for our career minded employees.
Work based learning helps us attract quality local talent that is so vital for us when offering a Scottish service and this is particularly relevant when we are based in remote rural locations.
We fully support the efforts of the Scottish Training Federation to maintain and expand this service throughout Scotland and look forward to a positive outcome that will give the industry the boost it needs at such a crucial time.
