Scrabble is one of the sports Nigerians are excelling at, in recent times. Great exploits have been done by Nigerian players in the world, in times not too long ago. Top among the list is Jighere Wellington becoming a world champion (Australia, 2015), making him the first black man to win the title. Also, in 2017, team Nigeria won the best Scrabble nation in the world (Kenya) with Moses Peter being the first runner up at the 2017 World English Scrabble Player Association Championship.

It is to our amazement that the sports in which Nigerians are conquering the world, is not included in the National Sports Festival which is a sporting event to showcase Nigerian sports and players alike.

As we all know, a man is not complete without his mental ability, this is a game of intellectuals which is growing in schools to help students to fire up their mental strength, improve cognitive and numerical abilities and encourage scholarship among the youths. At the heart of the sport is EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE and MENTAL WELLNESS. Removing Scrabble for the National Sports Festival is a death sentence to the minds and intellect of our children and youth.

Kindly, help sign this petition to ensure, Scrabble gets into the 2018 Abuja National Sports Festival.

Thank you.

We, the undersigned call on the Federal Ministry of Sports to kindly, add one of the most successful sports in Nigeria, at the moment to the 2018 Abuja National Sports Festival.
