Religion came to join not to separate.. we all are humans and we all believe in one god.

A civil marriage is one where the marriage ceremony has a government or civil official perform the ceremony.

A civil marriage is a wedding that takes place without any religious affiliation and meets the legal requirements of the locale.

Some countries require that a couple have their first marriage ceremony be a civil ceremony in a public location and that the ceremony is open to the public. The couples can then be married in a church and have a religious ceremony performed by a member of the clergy.

Lebanon does not have civil marriage, however the country recognizes civil marriage which took place outside Lebanese territory.

A project of law was suggested at an earlier date proposing a facultative civil marriage to couples interested but the outcome was not positive.
Who is the authority which performs the marriage in Lebanon?

As mentioned, a couple can not get a civil marriage in Lebanon. However Lebanon recognizes civil marriage held abroad. In this case the marriage is registered within the competent office of personal statutes or at the Lebanese embassy or consulate in the country where it took place.

Marriages held in Lebanon are performed by religious authority and take place either before Christian or the Muslim competent authorities. (Priest or Sheikh)

If you are with civil marriage, or at least not against it just sign this petition. Even if you don't choose it, you may just believe that others have this right.
