The City of Brantford Councillors voted in favour of looking into the idea of establishing a skills bike park in Brantford at a committee-of-the-whole meeting on Monday. The decision will come before council for final approval later this month. This was in April of 2015. We residents, were not made aware of this until the flyer landed in our mailboxes in July 2016.

Let me REMIND City Councillors [City of Brantford - How decisions are made].
The community has a role throughout Council’s decision making process. As issues move from idea to decision, community input is critical. Members of the community can contact their City Councillor or the Mayor, speak with City staff, speak at a Committee, participate in local and neighborhood groups working with the City and of course, vote in municipal elections.

So you left us out of the equation until this month, being July 2016? OUR VOICES MATTER!

Let me REMIND City Councillors FURTHER - Shaping Our Future 2014-18
The City of Brantford is proud to announce the launch of the Community Strategic Plan entitled “Shaping Our Future 2014-2018". The plan outlines a set of priority initiatives based on the collective voices of City Council, City staff, residents and community leaders. It also highlights specific actions the City will take to enhance economic vitality and innovation, ensure a high quality of life and caring for all citizens, manage growth as a leader in environmental sustainability and maintain the highest standards in governance and municipal management.

1. Environmental sustainability means saving habitat's such as Waterworks Park and it's natural beauty that benefit's many visitors from our City and those from out of town, who bike through, walk through, an enjoy the serenity of it! The wildlife also needs to be protected as if you've ever taken a silent walk through here you would see what wildlife you would be taking out of their NATURAL habitat.

2. I am on the Westdale Neighbourhood Association and was not informed on any of this until the flyer reached my mailbox! Why were we not notified LAST year to have INPUT to this? Another NA was involved. So my petition is as a RESIDENT OF WESTDALE!

Updated again August 4, 2016 (3 changes)
1. I removed the comments people commented to Rick Weaver on the ORIGINAL PETITION
2. I added another (we, the undersigned)
3. Added that my petition is as a RESIDENT OF WESTDALE

Previous updates were July 25, 2016 to include Neighbouring Cities, and further reaches across Ontario who value and use Waterworks Park

We, the undersigned, know this project will impact the majority of the residents in Westdale, Brantford, and neighbouring cities and we reject this project because it will depreciate the value of the park and of the community as a whole.

We, the undersigned, know this project will impact Westdale by increasing traffic of those seeking chaos and mayhem, increasing crime, vandalism, drug drop off spot and we already have enough of that now in our neighbourhood we don't need it compounded.

We, the undersigned, residents of Westdale, Neighbouring Cities, and Neighbouring Cities totally REJECT this Bike Skills Facility at Waterworks Park.

We, the undersigned, the residents of the Westdale/Holmedale, Brantford, Neighbouring Cities, call upon the City of Brantford Elected Officials and the Planning Commission to eliminate and reject the Waterworks Park Bike Skills Facility project.

We, the undersigned, ask for the Bike Skills Park to be constructed at a different Location rather than Waterworks Park which should be left as is to preserve Heritage, Environment, Wildlife, Forest, that are clearly listed on studies/assessment by the City.

We need your support and signature to voice our concern and our rejection of this project. If you are in favor of rejecting this project and have a vested interest in this fight, I urge you to support this petition and save one of our TREASURED Parks from destruction! Let your voice be heard! Ontario, Ministry of Environment protects and restores wildlife and the Environment and lists those facts also for Brantford.
