This petition is about stopping the voluntary male medical circumcision campaign (VMMC) and early-infant male circumcision (EIMC) campaign in Africa that is being funded by organisations such as The United Nations, The World Bank, UNAIDS, PEPFAR and others which has been approved and endorsed and financed by The World Health Organisation and the chosen countries governments based on claims from terribly flawed RCT's that were carried out by people who have a previous history of promoting circumcision.
This VMMC Campaign comes at a cost of more than $2 billion US dollars, circumcising 80% of the population of the chosen African countries which is 20.33 million men between 2011 and 2015 and 8.42 million between 2016 and 2025 to sustain that 80% quota and only God knows how many poor babies and these numbers are set to increase as they scale up operations.
There are a great many medical articles and journals that focus on the false, absurd and ridiculous notion that genital mutilation is a means to disease prevention and in fact this VMMC Campaign is going to increase HIV/AIDS transmission instead of decreasing it, as a result it violates the first rule of medical ethics which is "do not harm". We, the undersigned call on the World Health Organisation to stop the Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision Campaign immediately as it should never have been implemented to begin with as it is completely unnecessary, a waste of billions that could be used for something worthwhile and furthermore it's based on false information from claims based on flawed RCT studies carried out by known circumcision advocates.
To make it worse it's supposed to be voluntary but UNICEF approved early-infant male circumcision (EIMC) which is a basic human rights violation as the person being genitally mutilated has not granted their consent but gets mutilated anyway, it has been implemented parallel to VMMC which has placed so much unrelenting pressure on men to get unnecessarily circumcised it hardly seems voluntary either.
