Vivacell, a mobile phone operator in the Republic of South Sudan continues to send messages to its clients, even when such clients have not subscribed to receive them. Each message comes in English and Arabic. Though many South Sudanese speak Arabic, they can not read and write it.

It is insulting to send me a message in a language I can not read, and for which I did not subscribe.

These messages often disrupt users when they are busy with their own work. It is natural that when one gets a message, that person is curious to read it, only to find it is an advertisement in a language one can not read. These unsubscribed messages are junk and they fill one's inbox and make users to make time to delete them. This is not fair.

In a country where the internet is a luxury, and many people are not aware of their rights, it is my view that, the few online users are the ones that should fight for the rights of others. This petition must get the support it deserves in order to stop the illegal sending of messages to users.
