In recent years, Vanuatu has seen a rapid development of Skateboarding. Its amazing how it attracted an increase number of young people. There would be over 50 kids skating at our new Sea Front Park every single day. Unfortunately, people have been furious about how unsafe and dangerous it is now for pedestrians. Taking it to social media to ban skaters. Everybody gets mad at us for skating.
Skateboarders are forced to skate at parking lots and anywhere else with a decent concrete. Not very safe at all for any skaters. Then not very long, we get kicked out from parking lots and eventually kids who loved skateboarding stop skating less everyday. We're just getting tired of getting kicked out of places.
This petition is to build the first skatepark for Vanuatu. Having a place for sport, young people will not resort to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
We are hoping to collect 1,000 signatures with our petition. The creation of such a facility will be extremely beneficial to the entire city.
We the undersigned, support the development of a free public skatepark within our city. We recognise the need for and the benefits of free public skatepark and believe the city should at the very least provide suitable land and agree to maintain the skatepark after construction, and at the most, fund, build, and maintain the skatepark just as it would a basketball court, tennis court or other public general use area.
