Iran: Stoning sentences for a woman and man confirmed
Tuesday, 31 August 2010
NCRI - The Iranian regime’s supreme court on Sunday confirmed the death sentences by stoning for a man and a woman on charges of adultery.
According to Herana news agency on Monday, the two are imprisoned at Oroumieh prison in northwestern Iran and are identified as Vali Janfeshani and Sarieh Ebadi.
The two have been behind bars since 2008 in Oroumieh’s central prison. The judicial process has been described as hazy and both defendants were deprived of defense attorneys and the right to defend themselves throughout the proceedings.
The ruling was handed down at a time when there is an international outcry over a similar sentence against a 47 year old woman, Sakineh Ashtiani, who is currently being held at Tabriz prison.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is enforcing the brutal and savage anti human punishments against the people of Iran, including stoning to death of men and women.
This is an urgent matter, and we ask for URGENT international action to save the lives of, Vali Janfeshani and Sarieh Ebadi who are in danger of being stoned to death in Iran.
