Since lockdown was declared and Botswana Power Corporation increased their tarrif by 22% amist lots of uncertainties about job losses, loss of business by other business and many hardships we are faced during this Covid-19 times.
Now its been everyone (Consumers) cry because the price to purchase electricity tokens and the consumption is a complete fraud by the corporation. There is a huge difference in the amount of power token one gets for a certain price if they buy now, and later after a few minutes.
In short, BPC is stealing from us as consumers and we need to petition the Botswana Parliament to address this issue and BPC is made to account.
We the Consumers call on the Botswana Parliament to protect us against Botswana Power Corporation.
We call on the Parliament to establish a Consumer Council that will be independent and be about consumer protection. A council that will protect the interests of us Consumers against major or small cooperations that will seek to disregard the consumer rights.
Am independent council that will have capacity to investigate and prosecute cooperations for disregarding the consumer rights for their financial gain.
