With the different intersection safety tools available to the Department of Transportation, I’m asking you to implement a blinking light (just like at highway 21 and highway 30 at the Tama/Benton County line), rumble strips on Highway V18 South towards the intersection of highway 30, guardrails around the steep ravine on the SE corner of highway 30 and highway V18 as well as the NE corner of highway 30 and highway V18 or a lit up stop sign.

The intersection of highway V18 and highway 30 has proved to be a dangerous intersection. Two men died in the accident on February 4, 2015. When I drove on that road on the morning of February 4, 2015, V18 was very slick. It usually takes the road maintenance crew in Tama County quite some time to clean up the road after a snow storm. In March 2011, another person died ½ miles East of V18. Can guard rails be installed around those ravines? How many fatalities will need to occur there before safe guards are implemented?

As you can see, there have been quite a few accidents on highway 30 between Tama and highway 21. At a minimum, I would like to see a flashing stop sign at the intersection of highway V18 and highway 30.

Please consider implementing some of these safety recommendations before another person dies.

I've written the Iowa Department of Transportation in March 2015 but was informed there weren't enough accidents at this location to implement safety precautions.

With the steep ravines at the intersection of Highway 30 and Highway V18, the accidents are usually fatal.

Please sign the petition to ensure safety precautions can be installed at this intersection before there's another fatal accident.
