We the undersigned citizens of Davenport in Polk County, Florida, petition to have a traffic light installed at the intersection of County Road 547 North, Ronald Reagan Parkway, and Old Lake Wilson Road.
The juncture of these streets is extremely dangerous and numerous accidents have occurred causing grievous bodily injuries and destruction of property. We do not desire for the Polk County Traffic Engineering and Operations and Department of Transportation to wait for any community member, Davenport School of the Arts community to become the fatalities statistics.
The safety of our children, parents, teachers, and community members is of utmost precedence. This petition will help the safety of our community and the traffic flow before and after school.
The notoriety of this intersection needs to dissolve. The most recent accidents at this intersection was May 6th, May 26th and May 29th, 2015. This was one of many that have occurred since 2011. Year after year calamitous accidents have been recorded. The clear and present danger represented by this intersection has been noted by all in the community.
To redress this problem we petition to have a traffic light installed at this location.
