There has been a steady increase in traffic through Annandale over recent years with main feeder roads such as Booth St and Johnston St struggling to keep up. The delays on Booth St particularly have encouraged commuters to find alternate routes through the residential back streets of North Annandale. Of particular concern is the increased morning traffic City (eastbound) on Booth Street which has forced commuters to cut through Young St, Annandale St, across Piper St past the busy Annandale North Public School pedestrian route, and on to the last entry to Johnston St at either Weynton St or Kentville Ave.
This route is a quiet residential area with on-road cycleways and key pedestrian plows to Annandale North Public School.
Cars travelling along Young St and Annandale St travel at seriously excessive speeds making peak hour very dangerous for cyclists and school children alike!
We ask that Council reviews the 'Rat Running Traffic' through Annandale North with the view to establish Traffic Calming Measures to help make the quite residential streets safe again!
