Toronto Should initiate a Toys&Food4Tickets Drive Beginning in 2011

Cities throughout North America have adopted a toys4tickets or food4tickets campaign. These drives normally commence in late Nov. or early Dec, and provide drivers who have received tickets to pay for those tickets with a toy of equal value or food or both. These toys or food items are provided to children and families in need over the holiday season.
Toronto the largest city within Canada, receives 80 million a year in revenue from motorists who pay off their parking tickets.

We petition the City of Toronto, with a newly elected Mayor and council, to adopt this worthwhile yearly campaign and provide children and families in need with the proceeds of this toys4tickets or food4tickets and provide leadership to the other cities in North America who have not yet adopted this program.
The following signatories are requesting, through this online petition, that the City of Toronto's 44 member council and newly elected Mayor, Mr. Robert Ford, adopt a program, commonly referred to as a Toys4Tickets or Food4Tickets or a combination thereof.
This would allow motorists who are paying for parking ticket fines, to instead, during a period of time designated by the Council, to donate toys, food, or monies in an amount equal to or greater than their fine and that these proceeds are then redistributed to the children and families in need over the holiday season.
Children and families in need would greatly benefit from this worthwhile campaign and the City of Toronto would join other cities across North America who have already adopted it and would demonstrate leadership to the other cities spread across North America.
Please put this program into place beginning in 2011.
