Starting before June 19th, 2016 Guthrie Sayre was looking into ways of changing this policy. It was asked by an employee "when Guthrie was going to start hiring non-smokers" and the answer was "we are looking into ways of changing the tobacco policy". Here it is a year later and without any conversation with employees by Guthrie or the Union we are told how it is going to change and in 3 months. They already have gotten rid of certain foods and drinks in the cafes because of complaints and now food choices are seriously limited. We take our breaks not only to smoke but to run to the store and grab a quick energy drink or snack that the cafe does not have. It is just not smokers that this is going to effect but also people who are going for walks on break or running to the store.
We the undersigned are asking for a meeting with management to discuss this change before it goes into effect. To answer questions and field comments to maybe try and clarify what is going to happen and maybe come up with an alternative compromise. This is honestly something that should've been done first as far as employee satisfaction.
