On October 4th 1997, BBC One brings Balloon ident to life and then withdraws on March 29th 2002 to make way for dance and movements.
The balloon theme replaced the computer generated spinning globe which had been used as the main ident on BBC One since 1991. It launched on the same day as a BBC-wide rebrand, and thus the new idents also carried the new BBC logo.
