Upton Athletic fc have been for a number of years been trying to secure a lease at Cricketfield Rd Torquay to enable the team to progress.
We have been negotiating with the council to secure a 40 year lease on the pitch and a 40 year lease on the vacant house which has been empty for years. The council have informed us that the cricket club will be getting a full lease on the ground and building and Upton Athletic (who have been at the site for over 50 years) gets a licence so we can use the pitch on a Saturday and Sunday and for midweek games.
For this privilege we have to pay the cricket club double what we currently pay the council and which is half the amount the cricket club pay for the lease.
