As the people are headed towards a progressive future, the technology still undergoes advancements and evolutions for its capability and features. The professionals are continuously innovating to sustain and to make the people lives more proficient. With regards to the progression pertaining to alternative sources of energy in the prevailing era, there are already a variety of methods in obtaining energy specifically electricity that is responsible for operating appliances, transportation systems, infrastructures and machineries. In terms of generating electricity in massive amounts the most reliable source is through the use of nuclear power plant.
Nuclear power plants are used to generate electricity through a process called nuclear fission in which atoms are separated to form a small version of atoms that produce energy. (Smithsonian, 2018) With the help of nuclear power plants it can help lessen the expenses when producing enormous amount of energy compared with the common sources of energy. Not only for the process is cheap but also for the citizens that will be paying less. Power plant usually does not depend on the weather or foreign suppliers that results in fewer power interruptions and brownouts which makes it more stable that other source of energy. Additionally, the studies have shown that less emission of greenhouse gases are released from the nuclear power plant itself basically it is safer rather than compared to others when it comes to safety due to the emission of harmful gases towards the Earth’s atmosphere.
Based from a previous finding in 2016, there are over 450 nuclear power plants from 31 countries. As mentioned, nuclear power plants are based in 31 countries which includes one in the Philippines, located in Morong, Bataan that currently at hold due to different issues and conflicts that it had encountered in varous circumstances.
The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP), costing $2.2 billion, is located in Morong, Bataan. The BNPP was approved by late President Marcos in July 1973 and was given to Westinghouse Electric. The nuclear energy was completed in 1984, making it the only nuclear power plant in Asia based on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as of 2014.
In the study conducted by Teo Camacho (2017), he revealed that the construction of Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) faced multiple problems and controversies from President Marcos’ relation to Westinghouse, to the query of Westinghouse and General Electric, that led to criminal charges being brought against Westinghouse. One of the biggest controversies is the accusations of corruption to President Marcos and Westinghouse regarding to the massive amount of money involved in producing the project.
Recently, there are discussions about the Philippines reviving the BNPP. The conference about BNPP are being debated in the Senate. Both sides of the issue were heard: it can help with the supply of energy and reviving the nuclear power plant is too expensive. Nevertheless, scientists are still considering the nuclear power plant's place.

“We, the students researchers, call on the government agency to reopen and to continue the country’s only existing nuclear power plant.”
