Caprice Hair Salon is an integral part of what makes a prosperous community. Established since 1969 it has provided unisex hair care to many generations and is an iconic name that formats Shirley, Southampton.
The current proprietor has been astounded to learn that planning permission has been submitted by the owner of the building to replace the salon with a bicycle shed and storage for waste disposal. If the proposal is agreed it will lead to a material change of the existing landscape to what is a successful business with social purpose.
The salon is situated in a convenient location and is a manageable walking distance from a supported housing development. The salon enables elderly patrons to remain independent while providing a social and focal point for them to feel included within the community that they reside.
The salon offers employment to several members of staff. The owner, Zena also has a passion for promoting opportunities to local students having developed links with higher education institutions, who hold her in high regard. With her support many students have gone onto thrive and develop their own career pathways.
Please support this lovely lady and help preserve some of Shrley’s heritage, local employment and student opportunities to continue into the future!

We, the undersigned call on Southampton City Council to consider the planning permission submitted to change the business premises of Caprice Hair Salon, Park Street, Shirley for the preservation of employment, community amenities and economic well-being in Shirley, Southampton.
