Jason lost his life as he was walking home on July 28, 2012. He was hit by a driver who was heading home from a bar after drinking. The driver fled the scene and left Jason to die from his injuries.

The driver was identified the next day by the driver's passenger. The police were able to get a warrant to pick him up about two weeks after the accident. The driver turned himself in the next day. However, due to the time laps between the accident and the time that the authorities were able to talk to the driver, he was not classified as a drunk driver. The criminal case against the driver did not end till January of 2015. He received 30 days of jail time that he can do either at one time or on the weekends (10 weekends) as long as it is done before his 10- year probation ends.

Many drivers are not classified as a drunk driver because the authorities did not get to talk to them at the scene of the accident or shortly after it.

I am asking you to sign this petition to make it where if the authorities are unable to test the driver shortly after an accident to see if they were drunk or not, but it is known that they were drinking when they caused the accident and that they have a drinking record; that they be classified as a drunk driver for that accident.
