The crack house statute that was included in the 1986 Anti-Drug Abuse Act is affecting the way we can control the opioid epidemic in America. This statute is single handedly questioning the legality of opening safe injection sites in America. It is doing so by taking the old measure of the criminal war on crime when we in fact need to be working towards a public health approach to addiction. I am asking that congress strikes this statute and any other outdated criminally based laws or acts from current law so that we may help drug misusers into treatment rather than jail.
