Scottish and Newcastle Brewery
United Kingdom

Since buying The Crown Inn at Kirkoswald Cumbria two years ago, Scottish and Newcastle Brewery has managed the decline of the pub with spectacular success.

The two tenants installed by the brewery have failed to capitalise on the previous success in a village that has easily supported two pubs for many years. At the moment the pub is like a derelict squat and mars an attractive fellside village.

Scottish and Newcastle Brewery has failed to professionally manage the tenancy of the pub and refuses to answer letters from residents.

Please pass details of this petition on to family and friends who wish The Crown Inn to re-open.

Stop Press November 26 - Brewery Confirms New Tenant

Dear Mr Tea

Thank you for your e-mail . I can confirm that two prospective parties were interviewed at the end of last week and a second interview carried out with one
of the prospective lessees yesterday , Monday 24th . This has resulted in a verbal offer being made, which of course will be followed up in writing .
Mr Coulthard is currently awaiting a reply from the candidate . The recruitment market for pub lessees has been difficult in the current economic climate but hopefully there is a resolution .

I am as keen as the villagers to get the Crown trading as it should be and to return it to the centre of the community .

I will update you when I have any more news .

Many thanks

Arthur F Wilson
