Airservices Australia is currently conducting a post-implementation review (PIR) of its decision to implement new flight paths in Hobart airspace in November 2017 (https://engage.airservicesaustralia.com/hobart).

This includes a new jet departure path ("Runway 12 jet SID") which impacts the communities of Dunalley, Murdunna, Boomer Bay, Marion Bay, Bream Creek and Copping. This significantly adds to the impact of the new arrival path over Dunalley ('Runway 30 STAR').

The combination of both flight paths has a disproportionate effect on these otherwise quiet rural and coastal communities, none of which were overflown by jets prior to September 2017.

SECLA believes that the decision to locate the Runway 12 jet SID in its current position was not made correctly. Firstly, because community members were not consulted about this location and were therefore unable to provide feedback on the impact. And secondly because the notes from Airservices's internal design meeting (seen by SECLA) show that overall impact was not properly considered in the decision.

SECLA is therefore lodging a submission to move the Runway 12 jet SID closer to the airport, while leaving other paths as they are. We provide three options for achieving this, which would also provide an efficiency benefit to airline operators.

Our submission can be viewed here https://www.justplanewrong.org/pir

We ask that you support it by signing this petition, which we will provide to Airservices Australia.

We, the undersigned community members, support the submission by the South East Coast Lifestyle Association to the Hobart Airspace Design Review PIR, and agree with the suggestion to move the Runway 12 jet SID as close as possible towards the airport.

The Support SECLA's submission to reduce the impact of aircraft noise in Dunalley and surrounding areas petition to Airservices Australia was written by David Patman and is in the category Roads & Transport at GoPetition.
