Support Public Ownership of Paterson Park-Delta

TO Mayor and Council of the Corporation of Delta:

WHEREAS Paterson Park, at the corner of highway 17 and Ladner Trunk Road, has historically served a public function as both a fairgrounds and a harness racing track;

WHEREAS Kwantlen University purchased a roughly ten acre portion of the land from the Delta Agricultural Society in 1993 for $3.5 million;

WHEREAS the Corporation of Delta owns the adjacent twelve acres;

WHEREAS Kwantlen University has declared its intent to sell its portion of Paterson Park;

WHEREAS the Corporation of Delta’s motto is “Ours to Preserve by Hand and Heart”
