Whereas, the Board of Trustees has continued to show their full support of President Newman as the best hope for the future of Mount St. Mary's University.
Whereas, select professors and a contingent of others have shamelessly engaged in a campaign of mischaracterizations and personal attacks against Simon Newman.
Whereas, the above individuals and their acts have caused unimaginable damage to the reputation of our university.
Whereas, the results of these actions has have misled Mount students, Mount alumni, Mount faculty, Mount staff, the academic community at large, and the general public.
And whereas, as a result of this gross deception, the Mount faculty has demanded President Newman's resignation by 9:00 AM on Monday, February 15, 2016.
We, the undersigned, call on the Mount St. Mary's University Faculty to rescind their request for President Newman's resignation, and furthermore call on the Board of Trustees to reject the Faculty's request and not accept a resignation from President Newman.
