Students currently have the right to sit in their vehicles during their lunch period, as off-campus lunches are not permitted, except as described in the WHS manual pertaining to senior students.
The administration is attempting to punish students on behalf of a few misbehaved students by not allowing students to use on-campus parking lot to enjoy lunch.
Those students whom have not violated any WHS guideline and/or rule should not be punchised due to a few misbehaved students. WHS has never had a rule in place excluding the parking lot as a place to enjoy lunch.
We, the undersigned, call upon the Woodland Joint Unified School District for two reasons:
1) to cease the creation of a new Parking Lot rule for 2011-2012 school year. Specifically, Woodland High School is attempting to alter the current allowment of students to enjoy lunch periods in personal vehicles parked on-campus;
2) the right to continue enjoying our lunch period this current 2010-2011 school year, in any on-campus location, including the on-campus parking lot, without further harassment and/or threats of consequence for violating a rule which does not exist. Please refer to the current WHS Manual, page 7 and 10.
