The twenty mile per hour speed zone for the Painters Estate roads of Gainsborough Road and Manor Drive North is not working.
Cars regularly travel down these roads towards the A3 at double this limit and often faster.
With two schools in the immediate area and many young families, these largely 'through traffic' drivers pose a risk to pedestrians and cyclists. With no effort on behalf of the council to enforce this limit, the problem will continue.
We the undersigned call on Kingston Council to begin immediate enforcement of the 20 mile per hour speed limit for traffic travelling on Gainsborough Road and Manor Drive North, to raise the visibility of the speed limit through increased signage and to survey residents on the installation of acceptable physical speed restriction measures such as speed bumps/sleeping policemen.
