The Logan Menshed has been endeavouring, for the past two and a half years, to obtain a building (SHED) suitable to house the membership. The main objective of the Menshed is to improve the physical and mental health of the Logan male population.
A building or buildings to establish a recreation centre and another sufficient to house a workshop with wood and metal working equipment, together with sufficient space to undertake any other community oriented tasks, is required.
Also required, is an area of land in order to establish a garden in which to encourage Logan residents back to home gardening. Surplus produce will be donated to organisations, such as "Meals on Wheels" and "Youth off the Street".
We, The undersigned, petition the Logan City Council to consider the allocation of 47 Ellen Street, Logan Central, to the Logan City Community Menshed for the purpose of its activities which include the establishment of:
. a recreation centre where men can talk, exercise and relax to gain confidence to undertake project activities; and
. a workshop equipped with both wood and metal working machines sufficient to enable the fabrication of items for other community organisations; and
. a garden to encourage Logan residents to undertake home gardening and grow produce for local charitable organisations.
