Those local to the area will be aware that the former PC World site in Northolt has now stood vacant for over a year. During this time the site has become blighted by fly tipping, lack of landscape management and a deterioration in the condition of the building. Every day the building remains out of use, the risk of illegal squatters moving back onto the site remains.
Lidl wish to secure and improve the site by taking over the existing unit to create a new neighbourhood foodstore. Our proposals include the full refurbishment of the existing unit to create a 1,978 square metre store of high quality design and finish; including 83 customer car parking spaces.
At present, retail use is permitted – but not the sale of food. In planning terms Lidl need to remove the restriction on the sale of food in order to operate a supermarket on the site. The unit has been marketed for over a year, however no other retailers have been prepared to invest the money required to bring the site back into use.
Lidl therefore require your support to demonstrate to the local Councillors and Planners that there is demand for a foodstore in this area; and that this site is a suitable location. The proposed Lidl store will bring approximately 40 jobs to the local area; and crucially breathe new life into a site that is currently an eyesore and blight on the local community.
