Jefferson County Open School currently offers a unique learning community for children from Pre-K to 12th grade. Parents from across the district choose to enroll their children in a program that cultivates a sense of family and community that begins in Pre-K and continues through graduation.
Due to district budget cuts, the Pre-School aged children may not have an effective learning environment come Fall of 2010. While temporary classrooms were initially promised by the district, a waiver in the final decision is causing alarm among parents and staff.
We, the undersigned, call on the Jefferson County School District to keep Pre-school successful at Jefferson County Open School by ensuring an effective learning environment.
Parents, staff, students and community members all have something at stake in the nurturing of children's physical, intellectual, emotional and social growth provided by Jefferson County Open School.
