USE YOUR VOICE! Ivy Academia needs your help!

The Board of Education of Los Angeles Unified School District owes Ivy students a facility in accordance with the Proposition 39. The allocation of this facility to Ivy will allow our school to expand our program into the high school and admit more students.

The Collins Street campus, located near the intersection of Shoup Avenue and Oxnard Avenue, is a 5-acrea LAUSD facility that has been vacant for the last two years. Our Proposition 39 request for this facility has been consistently denied by LAUSD in the past. This year we have the support of Councilman Zine, our local city council representative. But we need more. We need each of you and all your friends to SIGN this petition. The more support we receive from our families and community, the better chances we have of getting the LAUSD Board to fulfill their obligations under the Proposition 39 and allocate Collins Street campus to our growing school.

We appreciate your continued support.

As a firm supporter of Ivy Academia, K-12th Grade Entrepreneurial Charter School, I would like to express my support to the school’s Proposition 39 request for Collins Street campus.

Ivy Academia is WASC-accredited, API 9, high quality charter school that serves over 500 students in grades K-8th. The school has been the highest performing independent charter school in Los Angeles county for the last two years. With the opening of a high school in 2007-08, their current facilities are not able to meet the growing demands for their program.

The Collins street campus is a solution that will benefit both the charter school and the District. First, this campus has been vacant for the last two years, providing no benefits to the community. Second, there is a strong support from the community, including Councilmember Zine, for allocating Collins Street campus to Ivy Academia. Third, Ivy Academia High School will help the District with relieving of overcrowding at nearby El Camino High School.

Ivy Academia is not only a school but a community, based on the foundation of building strong, self-motivated, competent, life-long learners. I am asking you to support allocating Collins Street campus to Ivy Academia in accordance with Proposition 39 which in turn will allow them to continue to build and grow.
